Petersburg to build a museum dedicated to its rich Black history

PETERSBURG — A new museum devoted to the Black history of Petersburg is in the works.

The McKenney Foundation is turning the old library on Sycamore Street into a site that showcases Petersburg’s unique history, from the beginning when Africans were brought to the Jamestown Colony in 1619 and how it later impacted Petersburg, to the city’s present day
